Fayette Flyers Meeting Minutes for September 27, 2007
Meeting location: Our flying field Members present: 8
Start time: 7:00 PM Member applicants/guests: 0
Officer Reports:
Treasurer report-David Keller went over our financial report and discussed pre-paying the rent for the Christmas party.
Secretary-Ernie Schlumberger reported that we’ve had no new members lately and we still have 53 memberships in our club. He also said that he was able to get the AMA insurance to cover the Christmas party as required by the new owners of the building.
Vice President Randy Hawkins was not present due to work.
President-Tommy Vinci said that he has not met our field’s new neighbors. Tommy then discussed the Christmas party on December 9th. The doors will open at 3:00 PM for setup, 4:00 PM for members to arrive and have tours through the hangar and 5:30 PM dinner will be served.
Reminder: This month’s club meeting on October 25th will be held at the old Fayetteville High school due to it getting darker earlier in the evenings.
Old Business: We discussed the issue of a reduction in dues for senior members. The final proposal agreed upon was a voluntary 50% reduction in dues for senior members over the age of 70 but not to go below $50 minimum. The proposal was seconded and voted on and passed. The proposal will be voted on at our next meeting.
Our noise problem at our field is now under control. A club member was at a Fayette county council meeting when the subject of noise at our field came up. The marshal said that our club had been proactive and said he had checked the noise levels at the neighbor’s house while someone was flying and it was well below the level allowed. We will continue to expand our flying times and rules as time goes by.
New Business: David Keller brought up the idea of putting together a flier to put in local hobby shops around the Newnan/Fayetteville/Peachtree City areas to inform flyers of our club’s location and noise restrictions.
New Members: None this month.
Broken Prop Award: None this month.
