Fayette Flyers Meeting Minutes
November 12th 2005 Meeting

The meeting was called to order at 1:00 PM
Since this meeting was conducted at the flying field during a fun fly, it was condensed down into the important point.

Officer Reports :
Secretary - One new member voted in at the last meeting. Other than that no change. The results of the upcoming dues structure business will
determine when the 2006 renewals will be sent out.

Treasurer - It was found out that the bank could do a partial cash in on the CD, so only $7500 of it was transferred over to the general account. Expenses covered was the storage unit, and the money to upgrade the SEFF pager system.

President - Acknowledged that the current slate of officers is being rolled over from the current year.

Vice Pres. - Nothing to report.

SEFF Update : Things moving along normally. The pager system upgrade has been handled.

Old Business : None

New Business :

Bylaw proposals,

  1. Adding the changes required for the existing field situation. 80 member/family cap as requested by the land owners, and the change to a secret ballot system for the approval of new members.

  2. Jeff Meyers has brought up a proposed change to the bylaws that will change the dues structure. In an effort to increase the member participation in event and field activities he has proposed an increase in dues for those that do not help with field work days and help at the SEFF event.

The idea is to get the work load off the 10-15 members that seem to be the core helpers during all of the activities and spread it out a bit.

This is not to be construed to be an attempt to get more dues monies so much as an attempt to spur member participation in the work that is required to keep the field and club events operating.

After much deliberation on exactly how to handle the tracking of these requirements the following changes have been put forth :

Jeff Meyers will keep track of the work done by the membership. The basic dues will remain $50.00. If a member is going to opt out of helping with SEFF that will add another $50.00 to the dues. If a member is going to opt out of helping during field work days/basic activities that will add another $25.00 to the dues.

There will be exemptions for the following situations : If you are under 21 or over 65 years of age, those that may be physically unable to help/medical reasons, and those that are on active duty in the military.

SEFF participation is 4 hours total.
Participating as a "primary staff member" for 3 days of the event or participate as a "supplemental staff member" for 4 hours on Saturday or Sunday of the event.

Work days/Basic activities participation is 4 hours total.
Each club member may choose one or more basic club activities for a combined 4 hours of work per year. Those activities include, but are not limited to, field clean up days, organize and host the annual Christmas party, other events or tasks that the club deems necessary.

That would make the dues structure the following :
Basic Dues $50.00
*Opt out  SEFF $50.00 MORE
*Opt out work days/Basic Act. $25.00 MORE
(* exemptible portion of the dues)

The renewals will not be mailed until these changes to the bylaws have been voted on. [hallelujah!! ]

Broken Prop Award : None

The meeting was adjourned at 2:05PM
