MEETING DECEMBER - MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM THE TEAMPRESIDENT’S CORNER
Well, it seems that I have gotten behind again in my "honey do" projects since "Bambi" season started last September, and the wife is on my case again. You would think she would be used to it by now!
The year is quickly running down and 2003 is just around the corner. I hope you have a safe, enjoyable, and relaxed holiday season. Your club Christmas dinner is just around the corner and if your planning on attending be sure and get your reservations in to Ernie. Also don’t forget your AMA dues, and club dues for the coming year.
Your Executive Council met since the last club meeting and we have prepared the budget for the coming year. This will be presented and voted on at the November meeting. We combined several categories into a single category to make it easier to manage and understand for the membership, we hope you like the changes.
Their is still nothing else to report on the field situation as I write this. When we know more there will be a email sent to the membership so everyone gets the facts. Remember to keep your eyes and ears open for new field possibilities. Our time at our present location is limited, even though we feel like we will be there through next summer.
I would like to extend thanks to all of you who helped the club hold many different events, none would have been possible without your efforts. We (Executive Council) will meet in December to lay out the coming years events, and I’m sure we will spread some of them out so that we/you don’t get over worked like we did this past summer! Thanks again for all that you have done and all that you will do in the future!
Tommy Vinci - Club President
Meeting Minutes for October 24, 2002 by Ernie Schlumberger
President, Tommy Vinci brought the meeting to order at 7:35p.m. with 16 members and 2 member applicants in attendance.
Officer Reports:
Secretary, Ernie Schlumberger reported that the club has 181 members and 2 new applicants to join today. He also said that membership renewals will go out as soon as some decisions about the Christmas Party and a State of the Field Report can be put together to go out to the members.
Treasurer, Dave Zeigler went over the Club’s Finances for October. The Club had $85.00 in receipts from New Membership Dues and $499.00 in expenses from Porta-A-Potty, Field Maintenance and Fun Fly expenses (Kid’s Spring Fun Fly). This leaves a total of all accounts in the amount of $9,684.10.
Dave then reported that the Dean Witter Account may begin to be assessed Maintenance Fees starting January 1st. If this occurs, the account may be closed and the money brought over to the checking account.
President, Tommy Vinci went over this year’s expenditures and discussed next year’s budget. The budget will be brought to the club at next month’s meeting for approval.
Tommy said that at this time, the Field is still not sold and when the sale does goes through, the first area believed to be developed will be a 20 lot subdivision over by Coastline Road and a Small Business/Office Park. After that area is done then the new buyer plans on trying to rezone our field area for smaller lots. This all may take up to 2 years and the buyer has said we may stay on the field until the Development starts. But they cannot guarantee anything in writing at this time.
Tommy then talked about the Christmas Party set for December 8th.
SEFF Event Coordinator, Jeff Meyers discussed the Event Planning meeting of the week before. Due to the uncertainty of the Club’s Field Availability next June, it was decided at that meeting that for the coming 2003 Summer, the Southeast Electric Flight Festival will be held at Mac Hodges field in Americus, Ga. (about 2-½ hour drive south of our field). The Ads for the Event will start in the January magazines. It is proposed for the SEFF budget to include 10 hotel rooms for members to work the event.
Then a discussion ensued about the decision to move the SEFF Event from our field. The discussion centered on the procedure that was followed in making the decision rather than the decision itself. The SEFF Organizing Committee thought they had the authority to make the decision due to the discussion at the September monthly meeting and because all club members were invited to the planning meeting via email. President Tommy Vinci called the meeting to order and it was agreed to let the decision stand but in the future, decisions of that magnitude for any Club Sponsored Events will be brought back to a Club Meeting for discussion and a possible vote.
Old Business:
Vice President, Tom Huckaby handed out a finalized version of the Club Logo Concept Contest. The winner will be announced at the March 2003 meeting. The members accepted, voted and passed the revised contest rules. A copy of the contest rules will go out with the membership renewal package.
New Business:
President, Tommy Vinci asked the members if they wanted the whole field bush hogged or just the lower field. It was decided to only cut the lower field this fall.
Tommy then asked if the Club wanted to make a donation to WinShape Homes since our Charity Fun Fly was cancelled. The members present agreed on a $1500 donation.
Ernie Schlumberger asked if it would be ok to hold a Monthly Electric Sailplane Contest on Saturday mornings. It was given the ok but was told that the field is to remain open to other Flying.
Officer Nominations for 2003:
Dave Zeigler (Treasurer), Ernie Schlumberger (Secretary) and Tommy Vinci (President) agreed to stay in their present officer positions when nominated. Tom Huckaby (Vice President) said he would not and nominated Paul DeWaard for the position of Vice President. Paul agreed to accept the nomination. All nominations were seconded and voted on. No other nominations were made. The nominations will be voted on at the November meeting.
New Members:
This month we had two new members join our club. Please welcome Keith Heefner and Russ and Jimmie Roberts to the Fayette Flyers.
Broken Prop:
Phil Meyers won for flying an Old Timer Sailplane with his brand new Hitec Eclipse radio set to the wrong model. The Sailplane has been rebuilt and Phil says it still flies like new.
