PRESIDENT’S CORNER

Attention! Attention! Attention! Attention!

Ballots are in and counted (well actually there was no count as there was not any opposition for any office) and the officers are set for the next year. Also the field improvements have been completed and the results are outstanding. Many thanks to Ernie, Clare, Randy and Tom for giving up one of their days off (except for Tom who has every day off) to redo the fence and erect the frame for the two bays that were added to the shed. While it is not totally complete (still have some screws to put in) it is ready for service. The improvements that were made this year are some that will last for years to come. Maybe replacing the old wooden shed next year will finish up any major expenses for the foreseeable future except for gravel etc.

This weekend is the final event of the year and I hope that the weather is going to hold out for us to have a good turnout. I want to go ahead and offer my thanks to Ernie who has taken the reins on this event and done an outstanding job of organizing, planning and arranging much of the event. Randy and I were afraid to get in the way. Great job Ern!

Gone hunting or flying, See Ya!

Meeting Minutes for October 26, 2000 by Ernie Schlumberger

Officer Reports:

President, Tommy Vinci, started the meeting at 7:35p.m. at the High School with 15 members and 6 member applicants in attendance.

Treasurer, Dave Zeigler went over the October finances. The club had $470 in membership receipts and $804.39 in expenses, which included Porta Potty, Fun Fly expenses and Field Structures (shed and fence). This brings the total of all accounts to $5409.04. Dave then thanked Charles Perkins and David Miles for the Great Job of providing the BBQ Chicken at the Fall Fun Fly earlier this month.

Tommy then talked about the upcoming "WinShape Homes Charity Fun Fly" on Saturday, November 18th. The Club received an ok to use the proposed flyer to advertise the Fun Fly with Truett Cathy’s name on it. (These flyers were mailed out in the club renewal package.) WinShape Homes will receive 100% of the proceeds from the Fun Fly. There will be food available, Zagi race and combat, the annual Paintball event and raffle. There will be a members only Raffle for a Topflite Warbird and 2 one year club memberships. You must be present and registered to fly at the Fun Fly to be eligible to win. (The intent is to raise money for Winshape Homes.)

The Fun Fly (Nov. 18th) will start at 9:00 a.m. and there is a $10.00 Pilot registration fee and a $2.00 parking fee. The Paintball will crank up around 10-11a.m. and run till 1-2p.m.

Secretary, Ernie Schlumberger talked about the job assignments that were already filled. Many jobs still need volunteers to fill them. Please contact him if you would like to volunteer (Even if only for a couple of hours.) Also, if you have an old kit or RC item that you would like to donate, please send them to Ernie or call.

Old Business:

The fence was installed on October 16th and several members and the installers agree that it needs to be lowered to a height of 40" instead of 48". Tommy was able to catch up to the 4 wheeler. He had a good talk with him and hopefully, we won’t have any more trouble.

New Business:

A proposal was made to have the club pay for the memberships of the club officers. The motion was seconded and then amended to include the Newsletter Editor / Web Master. Next month the motion will be voted on.

Next were the annual Officer nominations. All officers, except Vice President, agreed to continue for 2001 if so nominated, and President, Tommy Vinci, Treasurer, Dave Zeigler and Secretary Ernie Schlumberger were then nominated. Vice President, Randy Hawkins, wasn't present, but he sent word that he was not going to run for VP again. He said it was time to let someone else have a chance to do it and he nominated Tom Huckaby by proxy through Secretary Ernie Schlumberger.

No other nominations were made and the nominations were closed.

The new Training Program was implemented this month with 18 Trainers, new training books from the AMA and a Trainer’s list available from the secretary.

New Members:

This month we had 7 new memberships which include: Alan Anderson, Ben and Marty Crispell, Ryan and LaVerne Jones, Jeffrey Frank, Mark Thornley, Alan and Joshua Bedsole, and Dave Zeigler stood in for Tim Matthews.

Please welcome them to the Fayette Flyers. This brings our membership numbers up to 159. Please Note: These members received a Green 2001 sticker to put on their AMA Cards which denotes that they are TRAINEES. They will receive a key and a pink 2001 sticker after they complete a flight check with a Trainer or Club Officer (This is part of the New Training Program recently implemented).

Broken Prop Award:

Robert Barczynski was awarded a "Crasher Award" for his Cadet that almost flew away after the battery died in the A/C just after takeoff with a full tank. The plane did loops at full power for 20 minutes while drifting out toward Hwy 74. It finally ran out of fuel and settled into a beautiful flat slow right turn for the next 30 minutes before landing safely off of Landrum Road nearly 1.5 miles away. He also had a Piece-of-Cake which folded its wing in heavy lift earlier this month.[maybe time to take a breath]

WinShape Charity Fun Fly - by Ernie Schlumberger

The Club Officers would like to thank again all the Volunteers for their help in making the WinShape Charity Fun Fly a Success. We would also like to thank those that made raffle and/or monetary donations. The event raised approximately $1500.00 basically doubling the amount we raised last year. 100% of the proceeds will go to the WinShape Homes. Although the weather didn’t cooperate, all the volunteers stayed in good spirits, which kept everything running smoothly.

Even with Old Man Winter breathing down our backs with sleet and rain, we had 40 registered flyers. Also quite a few spectators came out to try and shoot down one of 4 paintball target planes. All 4 survived again even though 1 plane’s receiver battery died and landed itself safely out in the field.

This year we took in $115 from the parking lot donations, $168 from the paintball area, $211 from the food concession stand, $477 from pilot registration and raffle tickets, and $515 in check donations from members (some mailed in and some at the field). The grand total now stands at $1486.

The winners of the Members Only Drawing were: Peewee Maddox and Jeff Meyers won 2001 paid memberships and Bernie Ortmann won the coveted Topflite P-40.

In addition there was a whole table full of member donated raffle prizes which ranged from airplane kits, motors, glow fuel, T-shirts, hats, sweatshirts, calculators, umbrellas and screwdriver sets. We also had some corporate sponsored items such as gift certificates (Hobby Lobby International, Tower Hobbies, FMA Direct), a hand towel and 3 Hats from JR and a Zagi THL kit from Trick R/C. What a great way to start the winter building season with a nice prize won at the event.
