VP’s Corner by Ernie Schlumberger

Spring is finally here and I can’t believe the Perry swap meet has come and gone. This year’s selection of “goodies” was great. The amount of electric items has increased many times over the past years’ events. If you enjoyed the Perry show, then you’ll really enjoy the upcoming Toledo Show in the Seagate Center in downtown Toledo, Ohio. I have been there the last three years and while it may be about a 10-hour drive, it’s well worth the trip. This year’s Toledo Show will be held on April 2,3,4 (Fri, Sat, and Sun) and will showcase about 250 model vendors (RC planes, boats, cars, helicopters, etc.), a swap meet area, Saturday night Auction, symposiums running all the time and a large raffle. The Vendors come to show off their newest items being released, and deals can be had on everything. You can save a lot (usually 10-20% off retail and no shipping charges) on your planned purchases for the year, almost enough to pay for the trip. (That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.)

We as a club are still trying to locate a permanent flying site and the time is running out on our current location. We don’t know when, but we believe it will be soon. We do have a few leads we are trying to follow up on, but keep your eyes open for a new location. Contact one of the officers to give them any leads you may come across.

Get out there and do some flying. The field and runway are in good condition and just waiting for some fliers to get out there and fly. See you at the field.

Minutes from the February Fayette Flyers Meeting

Due to the "snow" the old Fayette High School was closed. The meeting was moved to IHOP.
Tom Huckaby stayed at the High School to direct people to the new location until approximately 7:30PM.

The meeting was brought to order at 7:45PM by Ernie Schlumberger VP.
There were 15 members in attendance.

Current Club membership is at 82 pilots.

Dave Zeigler gave the treasury report.

The current field is still open for flying, but as usual the axe could drop at any time.

Jeff Meyers gave the SEFF update.
The T-Shirt artwork is complete, thanks to Dave Zeigler. The SEFF pilot gets a new plane every
year. There are currently 46 pre-registered pilots for the event, which is well ahead of this time last year,
and the vendor mall is full and there are plans to expand it into the other shed area.
The Next SEFF meeting is 3-18-2004 at 6:30PM.
Jeff is still looking for help.
The city is helping out with rain contingency plans as well as getting access to an arena for indoor flying
and a place to have the BBQ dinner.

Old Business :
The field across from our current one is not a dead issue. David Keller is working on getting an exemption
for the Irwin Rd issue.

Tom Huckaby talked with BFI about the old dump and found that driving is not permitted, or even possible,
on top of the old landfill. That would make for quite a walk, uphill, with gear. They offered an alternate sight,
but it turned out to unusable due to terrain. He also contacted the land rights holder for the property
near the corner of Tyrone Rd and Hwy 54. Due to the conditions of the sale to the county, it is not a go.

A storage unit has been rented. If anyone has any Fayette Flyer items that need to be placed into storage,
please contact Jim Beck (rksjbeck@mindspring.com).

New Business :
Removal of the frequency board at the current field and the cancellation of the Porta-Potty were
handled.
Also, we are requesting that members submit articles to be placed in the Fly Paper. Please submit you article
to rksjbeck@mindspring.com or orvy@aol.com.

There were no new members and no awarding of the broken prop award.
