PRES,

Tommy blew up his computer so there won't be any Redneck hunting stories this month. No lost in Ohio with Ernie and Huck stories and no I just flew my biggest darn custom built by Divens classic antique scale model stories. Maybe Next Month... he will have successfully flown his new computer and the yarns of how he saved it from crashing will be told. But for now... The Tommy and Bill Airplane works will still be inwork. If you haven't been to Bill's basement... well you need to ask for the guided tour. It'll take most of a full day for you and your kids to see. The HO Train layout will keep them occupied {Zac loves it] while you look at the RC area. hhhmmmmm HOW big was that wing anyway Bill?,... and will it fit in Tommy's truck?

Meeting Minutes for July 26, 2001 by Ernie Schlumberger

President, Tommy Vinci, brought the meeting to order at 7:35p.m. with 27 members and 8 member applicants in attendance.

Officer Reports:

Treasurer, Dave Zeigler went over the club’s finances for July. The club had $340.00 in receipts from membership dues and $831.76 in expenses from field maintenance, Porta Potty and Fun Fly expenses. This leaves the club with a balance of $8043.80 total of all accounts.

Secretary, Ernie Schlumberger, stated that the club had 159 members prior to this meeting.

President, Tommy Vinci, talked about the food that was served at the Summer Fun Fly/Cookout/Swapshop. He thanked Steve Brownlee for getting the food and David Miles for helping to cook it. All members that were at the Fun Fly talked about how good it was. Tommy said we’ll probably do more cookouts like that one in the future. Tommy also told everyone to be careful sitting in the white plastic chairs at the field. They get a little wobbly when not sitting on level ground.

Contest Director, Mike McGowan awarded trophies from the Electric Sailplane Event in May. He gave trophies to Earl Robinson (3rd place 1/2A Sailplane), (2nd place Class A Allotment), Andy Anderson (2nd place Sport Sailplane – not present to accept), and Ernie Schlumberger (3rd place Class A Old-timer).

Tommy then mentioned the two upcoming Events: Electric Fun Fly on Saturday, August 11th and the Pure Sailplane Day on Saturday, August 25th.

Mike McGowan talked about the upcoming Airshow at Falcon Field in Peachtree City on September 8th and 9th. Mike had a meeting with the group running the show and there were no plans made for RC Flying at the show. However, Mike has a hangar at the field and plans on having a RC static display setup. Contact Mike McGowan if you’re interested in displaying a detailed scale airplane. More about this next month.

Old Business:

The motion of Bylaws update mentioned in the last Fly Paper was postponed until next month when Tom Huckaby could be present to go over it for anyone with questions.

New Business:

There was talk of cutting a strip of grass to the right of the runway to put High-starts there for Sailplanes. This would keep them off of the runway and allow both Gas/Electric and Pure Sailplanes to fly together.

New Members:

This month, we had 8 new members join our ranks. Please welcome Virgil Veal, Ernest McCory, Frank Ellis, Jimmy Bryant, Larry Still, Mike DeBoer, Steve Trofemuk and Jeff Hahn to our club.

Tip of the Month:

Randy Hawkins has designed and built an Autogyro (Electric Powered). From articles found on the Internet, he took that info and set about designing his own Autogyro. (It had a very successful flight for everyone to watch immediately following the meeting.) With a little digging you can find all kinds of things on the web to build and learn about. Also, Randy said that if you have an RC Modeler’s subscription, you can get it online and then have access to back issues and building articles.

Broken Prop Award:

Carl Wolcott won the Broken Prop Award this month for his Spectrum ARF that was lost on landing due to the dual rates being in the wrong position which caused the aircraft to stall.
