Fayette Flyers Meeting Minutes for May 29, 2008

Meeting location: Old Fayetteville High School Members present: 12

Start time: 7:02 PM Member applicants/guests: 0/0

Officer Reports:

Treasurer report-David Keller went over the club’s monthly financial report which also included the SEFF event financial report.

Secretary-Ernie Schlumberger reported that the club now has a total of 51 memberships as of this meeting.

Vice President-Randy Hawkins had nothing new to report.

President-Tommy Vinci discussed our field search situation. The County offered our club the use of the old landfill but it looks like there is a large slope that would have to be graded to make it useful to us. The club has asked if the County could help in any way to grade the area and is waiting on an answer from the county. (UPDATE: 6/01/08 The County has agreed to grade it for us but wants a formal proposal from the club which would include AMA rules, field layout and rules, sound requirements and etc. first.)

Another property we were looking at is the huge field along Hwy. 54 next to the hospital. The combined property is owned by three different owners. Fayette County Board of Education is one of the three owners. Randy Hawkins is going to put together a proposal to give to them and see if their portion (60 acres) is even available for use until they are ready to develop it.

Tommy Vinci asked Tom Huckaby if he could get a letter of recommendation from the Cathy family as a previous land owner who "leased" us property to use for a field. That could come in handy to show potential land owners that we are responsible enough to use their land.

Tommy also said that all club members need to keep an eye open for possible fields.

Old Business: David Keller talked about the club’s policy on this year’s dues reimbursement and it was agreed that all club members that paid the full $100 this year would get a refund of $50 instead of carrying it over to next year. Also, any new (2008) member who would like to resign due to losing the field, right after joining, would be allowed to do so and be reimbursed the membership fees.

New Business: None.

New Members: None.

Broken Prop Award: Again, none this month.
